March-ing into 2025

Semester one, 2025 is now well underway. We hope everyone is settling into their new practices nicely – meaning adequate supervision, regular teaching, a good breadth of clinical presentations, fair rostering and bookings, with a supportive and collegial work environment.

If you’re facing any challenges, support is readily available throughout your training journey. Remember there are friendly RLOs in each state that you can contact for support and direction if you’re not sure who/where to go to!   

It’s also time to start thinking about what workplace-based assessments (WBAs) you'll need to get ticked off this semester. The RACGP has a handy guide to the assessment framework and training activities summary available to help you navigate the requirements for each semester.

2025.2 placement process open

The RACGP placement process for 2025.2 has begun. Please take note of the key dates and mark them in your calendar.  

You can now complete your registrar training intention update in the TMS until 17 March. This is the first step to securing a placement for the coming semester.

The RACGP will use the information to allocate you to a location group. You'll receive an email from your training coordinator to confirm this, and you can begin applying to training sites in this group from 28 April. Please reach out to your training coordinator if you have any questions about the placement process. 

March SAPT

A new Self-Assessment Progress Test (SAPT) will be available on 10 March to support your exam preparation for the 2025.2 Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and Key Feature Problem (KFP). To access the SAPT, log in to gplearning and select the 'Self-Assessment Progress Tests' course.

This SAPT reflects the updated KFP format, as from 2025.2 handwritten responses will be removed from the exam. 

SAPTs include example exam questions to help you identify learning needs, self-assess clinical reasoning and develop written exam skills. They provide immediate and specific feedback on how you perform in RACGP Fellowship exams. Before starting the SAPT, we recommend completing the Exam Support Online (ESO) modules on gplearning.       

2025.1 CCE enrolment

Enrolments for the 2025.1 Clinical Competency Exam (CCE) are now open, closing on 2 April.  

A range of exam support resources are available to help you study and prepare, including the national CCE information video. During this recording Dr Rebecca Lock, the National Assessment Advisor, talks through the exam format, study tips and support resources. To access, log in to gplearning and search for the 'National exam information videos' course.

Please discuss any exam plans with your training coordinator and medical educator so they can support your preparation. For further exam support please visit our website.

Academic post showcase webinar
